KOINSTREET

VISUAL DESIGN

Overview

Introduction: For young people wanting to work in public service on Capitol Hill, it is almost a prerequisite to have Congressional Internship experience. These internships are usually 10-14 weeks and the vast majority of them are unpaid. Living in DC for 2-3 months in order to work in these positions costs around $8,000 which is a prohibitively high amount for many students, especially low-income students around the nation.

Client: In order to level the playing field and ensure a more diverse Congress, College to Congress started their Congressional Internship Program in 2017. The C2C Congressional Internship is a 9 week long, all-expenses covered professional training and internship program for 5-10 high-achieving, low- income college juniors, seniors, and recent graduates who would otherwise be unable to afford living in DC. They have now created an online learning program called C2C-U (C2C University) that is available for free to all students interested in working in public service.

Chose three competitors (Luno, Paxful, Coinbase) to see what features they had. Then, using a prioritization chart, I narrowed down the components of the website and began organizing them in different ways on a whiteboard.

These outlines were transferred into the sketchbook and I drafted ideas. I wanted to emphasize security and build trust since other cryptocurrency sites tend to have a lot of messaging around safety.

My philosophy for this project was to take what existed within KoinStreet and make it shine. In order to do that, I went through KoinStreet's social media accounts and screen shotted colors and imagery to spot trends and see how they were marketing themselves on other platforms.
